Obituary

Obituary for Jennifer Lynn Winkler

Jennifer Winkler, 57, passed away early in the morning of January 15, 2019. Hers was a life of joy, theater, arts, children, friends, and family. She was a performer, a teacher, a non-certified life coach, a mentor, a musician, a comedian, an animal lover, an activist, always the host of the party, always the life of the party, always bringing people together. She was a non-certified critic, a humanitarian, a daughter, a sister, an aunt, and a friend. She didn’t know a stranger. Her adventurous life led her to all ends of the earth starting with community theater from the west coast to the east coast; on to Crystal Cruises as lead vocalist travelling all over the South Seas; to a professional tour as Evita (her favorite role); to New York for a time; then back to California where she established JW Studios giving voice and piano lessons; but she gave more than music lessons – she focused on helping them to be the best human that they could be. She was always giving back. Along with all of this, she performed as a professional Christmas caroler, for nearly 30 years – never missing a Christmas season. Though teaching was her primary business, recently she began an independent “little side gig” with Rodan & Fields, where she excelled and brought others with her to share her success. We will all miss Jennifer – she was everyone’s BFF!

My heart is heavy with the news of Jenny's untimely passing. Although I haven't seen her in 40 years, my memories of her are vivid. We became closest in our Jr. & Sr. years in high school. We had many personal conversations in which she spoke honestly and openly about herself. As the most popular girl in class, she wasn't able to do this with her "peers". It's wonderful to know she fulfilled many of her dreams. I know her heart so I know she will be missed by all who knew her. I would say rest now but we know you won't. I'm sure the Lord has plenty of good work for you. Please introduce yourself to my daughter. You will love her and she you. You will stay in my thoughts always.

Jennifer was my piano teacher but she also became a friend. She generously took on the challenge of my very late start at lessons and always treated me with kindness, patience, and compassion. I looked forward to our lessons not only for the excellent instruction and encouragement she gave, but also for her constant smile, bright personality, laughter, and conversation. I found out about her death today when I arrived at her house for my lesson. I am so sorry I did not know in time for the funeral. She is greatly missed.

My condolences for your loss. Please find comfort in the knowledge that God promises to put an end to all the things that have plagued mankind for centuries including pain, suffering and death (Revelation 21:3,4). May these promises from God give you comfort now and real hope for the future. My deepest sympathy.

I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about this lovely lady this past week. She was a beautiful light and spirit in the physical world and someone who has been in my orbit for the last 3 years as part of an amazing, remarkable, loving and supportive team (#TeamInspiration) of Rodan + Fields consultants that we both have been proud to represent and be a part of together. Suffice to say, my heart immediately sank when I heard the news of her unexpected passing this past Wednesday morning. Typically, I like to process my feelings and thoughts by writing about them in my journal but for whatever reason I haven’t been able to completely wrap my head around her passing or write anything about her, that is, until today.

At first, when I didn’t know what to write, all I could say to anyone was that I’m shocked and full of immense sorrow and sadness for everyone who was touched by her amazing life, and believe me when I say that she truly does have a vast and amazing tribe of people in her life. One just has to check out her Facebook feed and you will read a gazillion loving tributes that have poured in over the last few days from an endless amount of family and friends who truly adored and loved her.

All week, I’ve just kept thinking to myself that - “Someone I know who I was extremely fond of and made me smile and laugh all the time, who was always so happy, mindful, joyful, selfless, generous and who lived such a purposeful and passionate life, passed away in her sleep and divine providence would never allow her to have another opportunity to wake up and greet a new day” - and every single one of those thoughts have been continually reverberating in my head all day & all night ever since this news first entered my psyche….

Jennifer was only 57.

We all know that life is short. And, although I’ve only really come to know Jennifer these last few years as part of my Rodan + Fields tribe, I know that I (and the rest of our R+F tribe) will feel her absence from the physical world for a long time to come. It was so much fun to discover that we have several mutual friends in common who are part of the entertainment and arts community locally and nationally, all because we had both graduated from the same performing arts college alma mater, only 4 years apart...

Jennifer had big plans and dreams. She had a purpose in this life. She set goals in all areas of her life and wanted to complete as many of them as possible, and she would have, but, sadly they were cut short…so here’s what I finally want to say to you my dear sweet Jennifer: I will live my life with intention and to its fullest (just like you did) in honor of you, and in honor of everyone else who has been taken away too soon before we were ready to see them go...Jennifer, from the sidelines, I've watched you live your life with integrity & conviction and you always set the example you wanted to see in others and connected all of the things you needed to fuel your passions in life…you’ve had an enormous impact on so many lives and every one of us have enormous gratitude and feel extremely fortunate that you sprinkled your love & light on those of us lucky enough to cross into your orbit in this lifetime. See you on the other side my beautiful R+F sister….
