Scott Fagan

When Scott Fagan was born on December 21, 1926, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, his father, Ambrose, was 26 and his mother, Beatrice, was 21. At 16 (1942) he tried to join the Navy, but was sent home. At the age of 17, he returned with the signed (forged) permission of his mother Beatrice. He was sent to Naval Station Great Lakes for basic training and dispatched to the South Pacific war zone.
While in the South Pacific, his forged mother's signature was brought to the attention of the Base Commanding Officer. He was given an option to return home to his family or remain and serve his country. He elected to stay and was immediately assigned to a Marine training unit. He would see action through the balance of the war.
Upon discharge, he returned home to Pittsburgh and attended Duquesne University. He would be recalled by the Marine Corps and see service in Korea in close proximity with General MacArthur. After his military service, he decided to enter the Trappist Monastery, Abbey of Our Lady of Gethsemani near Bardstown Kentucky. With the establishment of a new Abbey, New Clairvaux Abbey in Vina California, Scott would transfer there about 1955. Due to family circumstances, Scott approached but did not take his final vows. Having reconnected with his father Ambrose Wynne who now lived in Long Beach, Scott moved to Los Angeles and began work in Social Service for the county.
He married Lois A. Fagan in 1958 in Nevada. They had four children; Dennis, Laura, Monica and Justin.
Scott would become involved in investigative services. Later he would establish his own business, Scott Fagan Agency specializing in marine and aviation investigations.
In later years he resided in North Hollywood, California. In failing health, he retired to Villa Scalabrini in Sun Valley/Los Angeles, California in 2017. He died there peacefully on November 30, 2020 at the age of 93.
